According to the indictment, he is said to have strangled the 35-year-old on the night of May 14 in a parking lot in the city of Hamburg. He had contacted the woman via the Internet and arranged sexual services with her for a fee, said the representative of the public prosecutor's office. Both got into an argument in the car. The accused German grabbed the woman by the neck with both hands and covered her mouth. She died from lack of oxygen. The 32-year-old is said to have placed the naked body in a forest.

The accused will not make any statements in court, his defense attorney said. But he had already given evidence to the police. The presiding judge, Matthias Steinmann, read out a letter that the accused had written to his father from custody and which had been confiscated by the judiciary.
