Crime: Suspect confesses to killing Ayleen

After weeks of intensive investigations, the suspect confessed to killing 14-year-old schoolgirl Ayleen and led the investigators to the scene himself. In an interrogation that lasted several hours last Friday, the man admitted the crime, the police and the Gießen public prosecutor said.

The 29-year-old admitted in the presence of his defense attorneys that he "caused the death of the student on the night of July 22 through physical violence and then sunk the body in Teufelsee near Echzell," it said.

Suspect shows investigators the crime scene

The German, who had been convicted as a sex offender as a teenager, led the investigators to the crime scene on a dirt road in the Gießen district. He also showed where other items of clothing from the killed student from Gottenheim in the Black Forest were stored. The clothing is currently being examined for serological trace material in the Hessian State Criminal Police Office, it said.

The confession was preceded by extensive investigations by the 30-strong special commission "LACUS" and the Gießen public prosecutor's office. Since the Hessian authorities took over the case, several witnesses have been heard, a large number of clues have been evaluated and extensive forensic and digital forensic examinations have been carried out. This included above all mobile phone, radio cells, GPS and geodata analyses. In this way, the investigators could have created a conclusive movement profile of the accused and got a concrete picture of the possible course of the crime. Investigators had searched the Teufelsee several times for objects.

Confronted with the results of the investigation, the accused admitted the crime in the presence of his defense attorney - after initially denying it. The public prosecutor's office and the police said that no further information could be given about the history of the crime, the exact circumstances of death and the motive for investigative reasons.

internet acquaintance

The body of the student from southern Baden was discovered in July in the lake in Hesse. The suspect from the Lahn-Dill district and the girl knew each other from weeks of chats on social networks and a well-known online game. The 29-year-old was arrested shortly after his home was searched.

It soon became known that the man had been noticed as a sex offender early on: as a teenager he had been in a psychiatric hospital for ten years for an attempted sex crime. Until earlier this year, he was in a recidivist sex offender program and under supervisory supervision that expired in January of this year.

In the first half of 2022, three reports were filed by girls against the man, allegations of sexual harassment and coercion. He was also classified as a multiple offender for traffic and theft offenses. That is why there was actually a hearing against him before a district court in August.
