The federal police arrested a shoplifter at Berlin Central Station on Saturday afternoon. One of the officers used his firearm, as a federal police spokesman told the German Press Agency.

He did not provide any details of the operation. A spokesman for the Berlin fire brigade said several injured people had been taken to nearby hospitals.

According to the spokesman, the fire brigade was on site with almost 50 emergency services. The daily newspaper "Welt" (online) had previously reported.
