A car drives into a group of three girls - an eight-year-old dies: This momentous incident in October 2021 will be dealt with by the Kassel Regional Court from Monday (9:00 a.m.). There, the driver of the car has to answer for murder, among other things. The security procedure deals with the question of whether the 31-year-old will be permanently housed in a psychiatric facility because of the crime in Witzenhausen in northern Hesse. The public prosecutor accuses him of intention. An expert opinion assumes a mental illness and incapacity.

According to the prosecutor, the 31-year-old Turkish citizen is currently being held in a psychiatric facility. The investigators accuse him, among other things, of insidious murder with means dangerous to the public, attempted murder, dangerous bodily harm and dangerous interference in road traffic.

According to the indictment, the man was driving a car in the Gertenbach district when seven children came towards him on a sidewalk. He let four children pass, then he is said to have deliberately driven in the direction of the girls, two eight-year-olds and one seven-year-old. His goal was to kill her. Why is unclear. Two girls were seriously injured but survived.

Prosecutors believe the man remains dangerous to the public. She therefore applied for placement in a psychiatric facility. A total of five negotiation dates are scheduled by the end of the year.
