A man sat in Nordhorn (County Bentheim district) with a long knife at the window of a residential building and threatened passers-by. In the course of a large-scale police operation lasting several hours, he was finally overwhelmed by special forces, said the Emsland/Grafschaft Bentheim police inspection on Sunday evening. The 30-year-old was slightly injured.

There are no other injuries. The other residents of the house in the Blumensiedlung district left it during the police measures, which lasted several hours.

The operation started at noon. In the early evening, the police then announced that they were on site with strong forces and had cordoned off the area to rule out any danger to the population. For operational tactical reasons, no information had been given about the detailed facts for many hours.
