It's antique and valuable: customs officers from Singen found a more than 150-year-old double bass during a traffic check. The antique piece of jewelery was on the loading area of a van, as the main customs office announced on Wednesday. The value: 95,000 euros. A 50-year-old loaded the instrument onto his vehicle in mid-November. He was caught on Autobahn 81 near Hilzingen.
According to the report, the man had not declared the double bass when crossing the border from Switzerland to Germany. After paying the import duty of 18,000 euros, he was allowed to continue. Criminal tax proceedings were instituted against him for failing to register the stringed instrument.
