Closure until Sunday afternoon: Bridge over Autobahn 1 demolished - work on schedule

A bridge over Autobahn 1 was demolished on Saturday. "It will now be dismantled and taken away," said a spokeswoman for the highway company. Because of the demolition, the motorway between Neuenkirchen-Vörden (Vechta district) and Bramsche near Osnabrück has been completely closed in both directions since Friday evening until probably Sunday afternoon.

The structure was demolished with excavators and landed piece by piece on a bed of sand. This should prevent damage to the roadway of the A1. The work is on schedule, they said.

As the responsible branch office of the motorway company in Osnabrück announced, traffic in the direction of Bremen will be diverted from Neuenkirchen-Vörden via the U7 to the Holdorf junction. In the direction of Dortmund, traffic will be routed from Neuenkirchen-Vörden via the U20 to the Bramsche junction.

A new bridge has to be built for the motorway crossing directly at the Neuenkirchen-Vörden junction because the motorway is currently being widened to six lanes. From Sunday afternoon, 2 p.m., traffic should flow again in both directions.
