Changes in the information direction of the Government after the electoral bump in Andalusia

Five months after her appointment, the head of Informative Coordination of La Moncloa, Iolanda Mármol, leaves her post. Pedro Sánchez signed her last February 1 and this Tuesday the cessation of him in office is published in the BOE and she is replaced by Ion Antolín from Valladolid. However, Mármol does not leave the Government, she changes her position: she joins the communication team of the Third Vice President and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera.

Therefore, it is not an exit but an internal transfer in the Government's communication network. Iolanda Mármol has indicated to ABC that she herself requested it.

This change in the leadership of government communication occurs in full hangover due to the electoral blow of the PSOE in Andalusia

and the internal tidal wave that the strong advance of the PP has provoked in the ranks of sanchismo.

Iolanda Mármol came to the cabinet as President of the Government from El Periódico de España, where she held the position of deputy director after having participated in its start-up, after several years working at El Periódico de Cataluña. She previously worked on TVE and on Valencian regional television.

Sánchez placed her on February 1 in one of the key positions of the La Moncloa communication team, the one that pilots the Government's information strategy. Specifically, she signed her as director of the Department of Information Coordination, within the Secretary of State for Communication.

This position is now filled by Ion Fernando Antolín, who in recent years has worked professionally in the field of business communication in the banking sector, in addition to having worked in various digital news media.
