Champions League: Potsdam volleyball players receive a setback

The SC Potsdam volleyball team suffered a setback in the group stage of the Champions League against the favorite Igor Gorgonzola Novara from Italy. Guillermo Naranjo Hernández's team lost 3-1 to the top Italian team on Tuesday evening in their home MBS Arena (21:25, 17:25, 25:23, 13:25). Nevertheless, the women from Potsdam remain in international competition.

This means that the SCP can no longer jump to second place in the group, which ensures that it remains in the premier class. Qualifying as the best third in the group is also unlikely. However, the remaining third parties slip into the second-tier CEV Cup. The Fourth Red Star Belgrade can no longer overtake the Potsdam team in Group C. Third place was also the goal set by sports director Toni Rieger. In the final game of the group stage, the SCP meets Belgrade on February 8th in Potsdam's MBS Arena.

The women from Potsdam made the first sentence tight. In the second set, the Italians pulled away more clearly. But the hostesses won the third section, as they always have in this Champions League season. In the fourth set, the guests showed their class again.
