“This gesture aims to underline the importance and the contribution of the club's supporters, unequivocal drivers of the atmosphere at Saputo Stadium, who transmit this additional energy to the 11 players on the field. This number will be retired forever and will no longer be worn. Moreover, a permanent banner will be installed inside the stadium, reminding each match of the crucial contribution of the 12th player.

It should be recalled that CF Montreal, formerly known as the Impact, had once ceded number 12 to its supporters in 2012. The initiative, however, ended in 2020.

After an outcry produced by the change of identity of the team, CF Montreal continues to mend some broken pots. Remember that on Friday, May 27, the Montreal team playing in Major League Soccer will also unveil its new logo.

On the field, CF Montreal has a 6-4-2 record this season and has collected 20 points in the standings after 12 games.
