Cesc settles his time at Monaco and puts himself on the market: "I need a new start"

Fed up with the worst year of his career, Cesc Fábregas has decided to end his adventure at AS Monaco. Recruited by his friend Thierry Henry, who finally did not work out as coach of the Monegasque club, the Catalan footballer has not finished feeling comfortable in this destination and is already looking for a new team for next year.

“It is the worst year not only of my career, but also of my life, because when I am not happy in football, I am not happy in my life. I suffered a lot this year, and it was tough mentally. But sometimes things happen for a reason », argued the player, who was very clear about his future in statements to 'So Foot.

“I am grateful that it happened at 35 years old instead of 25 when I was at the height of my career.

So if you look at it that way, 19 years, almost 900 games and having won almost everything... it could have been worse."

Asked about the possibility of changing his mind, Cesc was very clear: «No, I'm sure it's over between Monaco and me. My contract expires next June and I am looking for a fresh start. My head needs a fresh start somewhere else."

A new start that, due to the offers received, could be on the bench, beginning a coaching career, but the Catalan still wants to play to make up for the bad feelings of last season, in which he has barely played two league games.

“To be honest I have already received two or three phone calls in the last two weeks from some of my former coaches to find out what I wanted to do, to see if I wanted to join them this summer as a coach... But this year has been so bad that I can't finish it. Not after building this career. I want to continue playing », he confessed. "I'm grateful for the career I've had, but I don't feel like it's over. I just want to enjoy my football and stay competitive at some level."

"I'm open to everything, I just want to have fun. After this year, I just want to play and enjoy my football. The place doesn't really matter, it's more my head that counts," he explained. "When I'm fit I feel great, when I'm training with my teammates I don't feel any different when it comes to passion for the game, it's just about finding the right project and doing it. I will look for a new project and see where the future takes me.
