This Friday, June 10, and after two years without being held in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the XXII Meeting of Reading Clubs of the province of Toledo will take place in La Puebla de Almoradiel under the motto 'Brindando por the reading'.

About 600 people from 34 libraries and two library buses will participate in it, meeting Carmen Mola, the pseudonym under which Jorge Díaz, Agustín Martínez and Antonio Mercero, winners of the Planeta 202 Prize, write, who will present their work 'The Beast'.

The meeting is organized by the El Libro de los Clubes Association, founded in 2005 and currently made up of 43 libraries and two library buses in the province of Toledo, which have 125 reading clubs and approximately 2,200 members, active readers who periodically gather to read, share experiences and learn.

The objectives of the association are to cooperate to carry out the encouragement of reading, the cultural, social and personal enrichment of its members, socialization through reading, and the visibility and enhancement of rural areas. Among the activities that are promoted, the main one is the organization of the annual meeting of the reading clubs with an author.

The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the dump of the local 'Virgen del Egido' cooperative. In addition to the meeting with the authors, recognition will be given to the coordinators of book clubs who have retired since 2020. Complementary activities have also been organized, such as several tours of local wineries with wine tasting, seeking the perfect pairing between wine and reading. The most representative buildings of the population will also be visited, also valuing the historical and cultural heritage.
