In the body scrub from Rituals, sugar provides the peeling effect. Nourishing oils complement the peeling. The product is said to be particularly suitable for dry skin, contains rice milk and smells of cherry blossoms.

Depending on the ingredients, peelings can have different effects on the skin. Australian Bodycare's body scrub contains crushed sandalwood nut shells that gently exfoliate the body. The body scrub also contains natural Australian tea tree oil, is vegan and is said to be particularly suitable for impure skin with pimples.

Pra Naturals' paraben-free coffee scrub is made from Colombian coffee beans and blended with essential oils and sea salt. It is said to have a moisturizing and skin-soothing effect on the skin. Due to the coffee it contains, it is said to stimulate blood circulation and thus have a skin-tightening effect.

2-in-1 products like Nivea's shower scrub are also popular. It combines nourishing cream with a cleansing scrub. Free from parabens and paraffins, it is well suited for normal skin.

The word peeling comes from the English (to peel) and means something like peeling or peeling. When talking about body peeling in the context of a dermatological treatment, it means that the top layer of skin is freed from dirt and dead skin cells by fine particles in the peeling. This is possible because loose particles can be loosened by friction and then washed off. In addition, body scrubs smell pleasant and can have nourishing ingredients such as body oils. However, there are not only body scrubs, but also scrubs for the face, lips, feet and hands. However, you do not necessarily have to use different peelings, caution only applies when peeling the face. The skin is much more sensitive and the peeling particles of body scrubs may be too coarse for facial skin. Therefore, use scrubs on the face that are specially designed for this.

Less is more, because part of the horny layer is removed with every peeling. If you exfoliate your skin too often, you can weaken the natural protective barrier. Skin types and their needs are also very different. So you can safely exfoliate healthy, normal skin once a week. On the other hand, if you have oily skin that is prone to blemishes, you can also do two peelings a week. Dry and sensitive skin should be treated with more care. Exfoliate as needed and use mild scrubs with nourishing ingredients. If you have neurodermatitis, wounds or sunburn, you should not use body peelings so as not to put additional strain on the skin.

You don't have to resort to expensive cosmetic products, you can also make a good body peeling inexpensively and sustainably yourself.

Ingredients

Here's how it works: Coconut oil solidifies even at low temperatures and can be easily processed into a body peeling. Combine the easily malleable mass with sugar and honey and mix everything well. The peeling effect is created by adding sugar, while honey and coconut oil are said to care for the skin. The body peeling is best used when it has a viscous consistency that is neither too liquid nor too solid. You can also apply the homemade peeling in the shower as usual and then wash it off again.

Which salt is suitable for a body peeling?

Of course you can also use salt instead of sugar. Coarse-grained Himalayan salt works best. However, if you tend to have sensitive skin, it is better to use sugar and not salt, as it could irritate sensitive skin.
