Canelo Alvarez, boxing's most famous star, returns to the ring Saturday night as he chases another piece of boxing history. To take on a dangerous foe, the Mexican star moves up to light heavyweight. Alvarez has fought only once at light heavyweight. It was a November 2019 fight with Sergey Kovalev, where Alvarez had one of the greatest knockouts of all time. To unify the four world titles, he has now returned to super middleweight. Bivol will be his opponent. He has an undefeated record, and is a skilled fighter.

Bivol rose from WBA interim champ to "regular champion" before being promoted to "super champion" in October 2019. Bivol has been able to defend his super champion status three times and is now considered one of the best light heavyweights worldwide, along with Artur Beterbiev.

The T-Mobile Arena will host three more bouts. Scott Alexander and Zhilei Zhang will be fighting after Filip Hrgovic pulled out of his bout against Zhang. Montana Love will be fighting Gabriel Valenzuela at junior welterweight. Christian Gomez and Shakhram Giyasov, welterweights, are also set to fight it out.
