Bundesliga referee Patrick Ittrich will probably not be able to officiate any more games this year. Due to a metatarsal injury, the referee has to take a break for the time being. "The year 2022 has probably ended for me on the pitch," tweeted the 43-year-old from Hamburg on Friday, adding a picture of a foot with a bandage and splint.

"The healing process is underway. Soon I'll have injuries on every part of my body. It's still ongoing," Ittrich also wrote. The police officer has been a DFB referee since 2003 and has been of the whistle in professional football since 2009.
