Bundesliga: Bayern saves a draw against Cologne – debacle for Hertha

FC Bayern Munich only narrowly avoided the first defeat of the new football year. Joshua Kimmich saved with his goal in the 90th minute at least a 1:1 (0:1) against 1. FC Köln.

Due to the second draw after the restart of the Bundesliga, Munich are four points ahead of RB Leipzig as table leaders. The Saxons moved up to second place, at least temporarily, with a 6-1 (4-0) win at bottom side FC Schalke 04.

Hertha BSC also lost the second game of the year in a 0:5 (0:3) against VfL Wolfsburg and remains in a direct relegation zone ahead of Schalke. VfB Stuttgart missed out on their first win under Bruno Labbadia, who had returned as coach, in a 2-2 (1-1) win at TSG Hoffenheim after conceding a late goal. The Swabians left the relegation zone for the time being.
