The third edition of the Comdomtom Festival will take place May 27-29. It is organized by the Kalina’Go association and focuses on overseas culture, in particular Kalinago culture. The festivities are held in Bordeaux at the marine hangar number 2 (basin afloat) for three days.

Kali'nas, an Amerindian ethnic group, are found in five South American nations. There are between 15,000 to 19,000 Kalinians scattered throughout Brazil, Guyana Suriname and French Guiana, and then finally Venezuela.

Herve Robineau, originally from Awala Yalimapo in French Guyana represents the Kali'nas at these festivities. His presence at the festival was to "show metropolitan France what the Kalinago Culture is and make it known." To survive and live, we continue to share our culture. On Friday, May 27, at 6 p.m., he held a conference to discuss his ethnicity and its place in our society that "tends not to suppress small cultures".

The third Comdomtom will be held in 2022 after two cancellations because of the health crisis. Severine Boston, a Bordeaux resident, wants to organize this festival. "I'm willing to add my rice grain back to the bag of rice if it makes me happy.

This issue, in addition to providing information on the Kali’nas people and Mayotte, is also a showcase for Mayotte. It features three Mahoran students from the Union of Mahoran Associations in Gironde (Uamg), which advertises their tiny island, which was made a French department in 2009. You will also find traditional pearl jewelery.

The party will be held during the three-day celebrations. It will include a demonstration of traditional Venezuelan dances on Saturday, May 28th at 8 p.m. and a closing ceremony on Sunday, May 29th at 6 p.m. All festival attendees are welcome to attend.
