Body discovered on Sunday: Police: Twelve-year-old Luise from Freudenberg was killed – no indication of a sexual offense

Twelve-year-old Luise from Freudenberg (Siegen-Wittgenstein district, North Rhine-Westphalia) fell victim to a violent crime. This was announced by the Koblenz police headquarters on Monday morning after initial investigations. According to the information, the exact cause of death has not yet been determined, and the girl's body is to be examined by forensic medicine during the course of the day. "There is currently no evidence of a sexual offense," the investigators said in a statement.

It is not known whether the police already have a suspect. An arrest has not yet been reported. "The investigations are in full swing," said a spokesman for the Kblenz public prosecutor's office of the DPA news agency. For "tactical reasons" and "to protect the personal rights of the relatives", the authorities do not want to provide any further information for the time being.

Twelve-year-old Luise was last seen around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday when she was walking in Freudenberg on her way home from a friend. She never got there. On the same evening, a large contingent of emergency services searched for the missing person, the police informed the public at night and asked for help in the search.

Police officers then discovered the girl's body on Sunday morning about five kilometers from her place of residence near a former train station in a wooded area in Rhineland-Palatinate (). "We are deeply shocked in Freudenberg and our thoughts are with the relatives," said Nicole Reschke, the mayor of Luise's hometown, after the body was found.
