Berlin clan: assault, blackmail and weapons again and again: brother of Arafat Abou-Chaker in custody

Ali Abou-Chaker, one of the brothers of the Berlin clan Arafat Abou-Chaker has been in custody since Thursday. The star learned from the Berlin public prosecutor's office.

The 48-year-old, who has many previous convictions, is accused of dangerous bodily harm, severe extortion and threats. The background is arrest warrants for two alleged acts of violence.

Last Monday, the accused allegedly threatened an employee of a sports bar in Neukölln with a gun when he and a buddy were to be steered out of the bar. Two bar employees were injured in the ensuing brawl in front of the café with several participants. Abou-Chaker fled before the police arrived.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the second arrest warrant is related to a shooting at Christmas 2020. Surveillance cameras documented what was happening in a Kreuzberg backyard at the time. Ali Abou-Chaker was seen with a machete alongside Veysel K., who is armed with a pistol. Both were gunned down by another man. The shooter later testified in court that they had massively threatened him for alleged gambling debts. Veysel K., meanwhile deported to Turkey, is said to have had drug problems for years, like Ali Abou-Chaker.
