Benidorm Fest 2023 warms up engines in the heat of Chanel's success in Eurovision

In the heat of the "chanelazo" in Eurovision. The Generalitat Valenciana begins this Monday the reinforcement of the national and international promotion of Benidorm Fest 2023 with the aim of achieving the maximum number of impacts and dissemination of the Valencian Community. Among the actions planned to achieve greater dissemination, the promotion of the musical contest will be promoted in specialized fairs and in LGTBI music and tourism events.

In addition, the expansion of the capacity of the Palacio de l'Ila de Benidorm and the creation of the 'Benidorm Fest Village' are also planned so that the "Beni fans" can follow the festival all week with music, visits by participants, cultural events, exhibitions, talks, conferences on the festival and its history, the Generalitat has detailed in a statement.

The general director of Tourism, Herick Campos, has highlighted that the Benidorm Fest, which was held last January, "reached 21 percent television screen shares during the broadcast of the gala and reached 27.7 % in the golden minute of the final, when the winner was announced".

In social networks, the musical contest in which the representative person in the Eurovision Song Contest is chosen was a 'trending topic' worldwide, with 358 million users. The economic impact on the Twitter network alone accounted for 13.3 million euros that night, and occupancy in the different tourist accommodation increased by 10%.

For the next edition, the general director of Tourism has highlighted that in 2023 the limitations due to COVID-19 are not expected to exist, for which he has announced that the Benidorm Fest "will become the week of the Benidorm Fest, with many more musical performances and cultural events throughout the city, allowing visitors to fully enjoy this great festival".

In this sense, Campos has announced that the Generalitat will open communication channels with local and regional companies to "involve them in the event" and, on the other hand, with 'eurofans' at a national level to "make the Benidorm Fest an inexcusable event in your annual calendar".

The Benidorm Fest arises thanks to the collaboration between RTVE and the Generalitat, which paid one million euros, and with the support of the Benidorm City Council, which contributed 200,000. As the general director has underlined, "he launched the city of Benidorm and the Valencian Community to the top of the Eurovision, musical and major events scene".
