"Basta policy": Green politicians: Scholz damages trust in traffic lights

The Green budget expert Sven-Christian Kindler has accused Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) of undermining trust between the coalition parties with his power word in the nuclear dispute.

"At the end of September there was a joint decision by the coalition leaders on the operational reserve of the two southern German nuclear power plants," he told the editorial network Germany with a view to the Isar 2 and Neckarwestheim 2 piles. After renegotiations by the FDP, Scholz violated this compromise without any technical reason. "Policies like this reward breaking agreements and damage trust at traffic lights," Kindler said.

Scholz used his policy competence on Monday after days of arguments between the FDP and the Greens about how to deal with the German nuclear power plants. He instructed the responsible ministers to make legislative proposals so that the Isar 2, Neckarwestheim 2 and Emsland nuclear power plants can continue to operate beyond the end of the year until April 15, 2023.
