Isabel Díaz Ayuso announced this Saturday “the largest increase in history” in the number of disability places offered by the Community of Madrid. The president took advantage of the day of the ONCE to proclaim the 1,232 new positions that will be incorporated into the almost 25,000 of the Network of Attention to People with Disabilities of the regional Government. The majority, 815, will go to early care, another 185 to serious and lasting mental illness, 111 to intellectual disability and associated serious behavioral disorders and 121 to autism spectrum disorders.
In the Amusement Park, where the day was held, and accompanied by the Minister for Family, Youth and Social Policy, Concepción Dancausa, Ayuso congratulated the ONCE Social Group for its work in the last 84 years with the group of blind or disabled people. severe visual impairment.
The Community will continue "working to continue being that region without barriers, open, plural and free, which is committed to the person, protects children, supports people with disabilities, and cares for their elders", assured the leader.
Ayuso also highlighted that "one of the great fronts to tackle in order to have a more independent and fulfilling life is that of socio-labour integration". In this sense, the Executive and ONCE have been collaborating since 2014 to cover with people from this group the positions of sellers of the popular coupons.
The 1,232 new seats are not the first increase in the public network so far this year. Last May, the Madrid Government approved the allocation of 221 million euros to increase the capacity of care homes for seriously affected adults with mental illness by 20.5%, which may reach up to a maximum of 1,752 places, compared to the initial 1,453. In addition, throughout May and June, the Executive will launch 125 new free care posts for people with disabilities, a measure with an estimated annual cost of more than 4.5 million euros and aimed at dependent adults.
Last April there were also announcements. The counselor of the branch, Concepción Dancausa, recalled that the Community of Madrid has increased the budget for the care of people with disabilities by 24.5% in 2022, from 341 million euros last year to 425 million today. "This increase will allow us to continue improving care for this group and their families, with the aim of maximizing their quality of life and achieving their full social and labor inclusion," Dancausa celebrated.
On the other hand, this week the regional Official Gazette (BOCM) published the call for subsidies of 1.15 million euros for the maintenance of centers that offer non-contracted places and the financing of specialized rehabilitation treatments for people with disability.
