Award: Oldenburg Youth Book Prize goes to Hamburg and Berlin

The Children's and Young Adult Book Prize of the City of Oldenburg goes to two prizewinners this year: the Hamburg illustrator Sara-Christin Richter and the Berlin author Matthias Kohm. Richter will be honored for the illustrations in her children's book "Annette, Querkus und die wildeworte" about the life of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, as the city of Oldenburg announced on Friday. The jury praised the sensitivity with which the artist breathes life into her characters. Author Cornelia Funke provided the text for the book.

Matthias Kohm receives the award for his debut book for young people "Ewig but nobody needs it". Kohm created a "philosophical, rocking and at the same time poetic coming of age novel," the jury judged. Richter and Kohm share the prize, which is endowed with 8,000 euros.
