Part of one of the stages that was being installed on Monte do Gozo in Santiago for next week's Son do Camiño festival collapsed on Friday morning during its assembly work, trapping four injured workers: one of the operators is in serious condition and the other three in a mild condition, sources from the Xunta have confirmed to ABC.
The worker who has been most seriously injured has been transferred by ambulance to the University Clinical Hospital of Santiago, according to Europa Press. The other three, minor, have received medical assistance 'in situ'.
Numerous emergency means moved to the place to try to rescue the operations workers. Members of the Santiago Fire Department, the National Police and, of course, emergency health personnel have been mobilized. At the moment the causes that caused the accident are unknown, although they are "investigating".
The accident occurs less than a week before the celebration of the macrofestival, which is expected to host, from July 16 to 18, some 120,000 people and more than 40 international artists on two main stages in Monte do Gozo, on the outskirts of the Galician capital.
Various regional and municipal authorities have traveled to Monte do Gozo, including the general director of Emergencies in Galicia, Santiago Villanueva.
