Armed violence in Montreal: $1 million for research

Quebec is relying on scientific research to find a solution to the escalation of armed violence in the metropolis with an investment of $1 million in a new chair for the prevention of armed violence.

This was announced Thursday by the Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal region, Chantal Rouleau.

“It is with this type of tool that the metropolis will continue to be the safe city that we know,” she said in a press release.

“[This chair] will encourage the sharing of knowledge, through knowledge mobilization and scientific dissemination activities, while supporting the training of researchers on this theme,” added Louise Poissant, Scientific Director of the Fonds de Quebec Research - Society and Culture.

Remember that the Quebec government has already injected more than $90 million "through repression" into Operation Centaur, and through "crime prevention", also injecting $52 million into it.
