The municipality of Arcicollar has inaugurated this Thursday its new municipal library, which has been financed by the Diputación de Toledo with 240,000 euros, contributed through four annuities of the provincial plan program.

The vice president of Education, Culture, Equality and Social Welfare, Ana Gómez, has inaugurated this new cultural infrastructure of the town, together with the mayor of the municipality, Filiberto Bañares; the regional deputy and mayor of Camarena, Charo García, mayors of the region, such as Camarenilla or Rielves; the municipal librarian, Lorena García; the municipal corporation and the large audience attending the event.

According to Gómez, the opening of the installation, which has had the economic collaboration of the Toledo Provincial Council, as well as the drafting of the project, "makes this an important day for Arcicollar, for its neighbors, for what it means and because It is one of the great projects that the mayor wanted for his town.”

The vice-president pointed out “the pride that the Diputación has made it possible for the town to have this new library, since it is a decided commitment that the Government of Álvaro Gutiérrez makes for municipalism. The provincial plans -he continued- have served to provide Arcicollar with a library, as well as services and infrastructure in all the municipalities of our province».

The vice-president has alluded to the increase of two million in provincial plans this year "to reach 12 million which, without a doubt, spread over the 204 municipalities give rise to great works like this, which are not great because of their size, but because of what they bring closer, as in this case, that what we are bringing closer is culture».

Ana Gómez recalled that "the Provincial Government defends the rural world and does so by investing and contributing to maintaining life in our towns and fighting against depopulation".

For his part, the mayor of Arcicollar, Filiberto Bañares, thanked the Toledo Provincial Council for the help received through the investment programs that the institution approves each year, and which on this occasion has allowed the completion of a long-awaited project, such as It is the new municipal library.

The new library belongs to the library network of Castilla-La Mancha, it is located in an old building in the town, owned by the City Council, and functioned for a time as a residence for the elderly, until it was built in another place, leaving that space free and unused.

After that transfer of the residence for the elderly, the City Council decided to allocate that space to a municipal library, a work that has finally been completed, located in the heart of the city center, having respected at all times the exterior aesthetics of the building that houses the new municipal infrastructure dedicated to to the culture of books.

The building where the library is located has undergone comprehensive reform, being distributed over two floors. On the entire lower floor, with 272 square meters, the entrances, the activities room, study room, filing cabinet, warehouse, two toilets, consultation room and toilet-cloakroom are distributed.

With this work, it has been possible to provide Arcicollar with a larger library and with greater possibilities, since the previous one was very small and just in terms of features, which did not prevent it from having more than 4,000 volumes, of which more than 300 are audiovisual, including movies, music and electronic resources.
