Another World War II bomb found and defused in Heidelberg

The bomb was discovered during construction work in the Heidelberg Bahnstadt. According to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior, the evacuation area near the main train station was "even larger than last Friday" when a bomb had to be defused. More than 7000 people have their homes in it.

After the bomb was found, the city of Heidelberg called on residents to look for "alternative accommodation". The emergency shelters that were set up in parallel might not be able to accommodate all those affected, she warned. It was originally assumed that the defusing could last until late at night. Shortly before midnight, however, the police gave the all-clear and reported the successful defusing of the bomb.

A week ago, during construction work near the train station in Heidelberg, a 250-kilogram World War II bomb was found and defused. The second bomb discovered on Thursday was only a few meters away.
