Alpine skiing: Luitz does without the second race in Kranjska Gora

Ski racer Stefan Luitz ended the World Cup weekend in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, and with it his season too early. The athlete from SC Bolsterlang decided not to start in the second giant slalom on Sunday after falling in the first on Saturday. The 30-year-old said his knee didn't feel stable enough to be competitive. He hopes not to be seriously injured, but will have a final check-up again.

"It was an extremely difficult season for me," wrote Luitz on social media. "I will now calmly consider the next steps." He was unable to qualify for the season finale in Andorra, which begins on Wednesday.
