"In honor of their extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend's football matches are postponed, including Monday night's game," the Premier League said.
According to UK government guidance, the cancellation of sporting events during a period of national mourning is not mandatory but is "at the discretion" of individual organisations. "As a mark of respect, organizations may want to consider canceling or postponing events or closing venues on the day of the state funeral," the government said.
Other sporting events have also been suspended, including matches in the women's top flight, cricket internationals and the Golfers' PGA Championship at Wentworth.
There had already been a minute's silence for the Queen before kick-off at European Cup games between English clubs on Thursday evening, including Manchester United and West Ham United games. Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday at the age of 96.
