At least six people have died in a Thai Navy shipwreck. On Tuesday, a crew member from the sunken ship was rescued from the water and six others were found dead, Thai media reported, citing the Navy. 23 people were still missing, it said, and they were still being searched for. Investigations into the incident have so far shown that there were not enough life jackets for all 106 crew members on board.

The ship was caught in a storm on Sunday evening about 37 kilometers off the coast of Prachuap Khiri Khan province in the Gulf of Thailand and sank. The US-made corvette was on patrol and hit by high waves, sources said. As a result, water entered, there was a power failure and the main engine stopped working. The ship had been in use for about 36 years. Among other things, it was equipped for air defense and anti-submarine warfare.
