A railway employee died in an accident on the railway line between Nuremberg and Regensburg (Bavaria). Another was seriously injured, said the police headquarters in Upper Palatinate. The two men were busy clearing work when they were hit by a single locomotive, a police spokesman said. There was initially no information on the identity of the victims.

The railway line was completely closed for several hours. The Regensburg criminal police are investigating a fatal accident in rail traffic. Officials want to find out exactly how the accident happened.
