Agents of the National Police have arrested a man in the district of Altet de Elche (Alicante) who, after being discovered through security cameras while committing a robbery in a house, tried to flee through the roofs of the adjoining buildings and he hid in the community stairway of one of them.
The CIMACC Room 091 received a notice from a person who warned that, through the security cameras of his home, he was witnessing a robbery being committed inside it, the security forces and bodies have reported in a statement .
Following the notice, agents attached to the Citizen Security Brigade and Judicial Police of the National Police Station of Elche activated a special device to prevent robberies with force and displayed police signs around the perimeter of the home, with the aim of monitoring all possible ways to prevent the escape of the suspect.
The alleged perpetrator of the robbery, noticing the police presence, began his escape, while the agents chased him through the roofs of different adjoining buildings. Finding himself with no way out, the suspect tried to hide inside the community stairway of a building, where he was finally detained by the agents.
The arrested man carried among his belongings various effects that had been stolen from the home, such as jewelry, a mobile phone, an electronic device, as well as objects that he used to perpetrate the robbery, such as tools and gloves.
In addition, the agents found a key to a vehicle that, after carrying out the relevant checks, it was found that they belonged to a vehicle parked on public roads. Inside it, a lady's handbag was found, containing jewelry, a mobile phone and personal documentation of a person who had previously been the victim of a robbery.
The arrested man, 24 years old and Algerian nationality, was placed at the disposal of the Duty Court of the town of Elche. The research group continues with the corresponding steps to find out if this person has committed more robberies in homes.
