Protesters forced the Mercier Bridge to close on Saturday morning.

A demonstration from the Kahnawake reserve in Montérégie headed for the bridge linking Montreal to the South Shore, thus forcing the closure of the installation by the Ministry of Transport.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) were also called in to help ensure traffic and everyone’s safety.
