Thunberg reached Portugal on the way to the UN climate talks

- It feels unreal. It is a very special feeling to see land again, " says Thunberg, after weeks at sea.

Klimaaktivisten Greta Thunberg reached Portugal, after having crossed the Atlantic by sailboat. From Portugal she takes on to Madrid in Spain to participate in the UN climate talks.

- It feels kralbet unreal. It is a very special feeling to see the country and people, " says the 16-year-olds to the newspaper Dagens Nyheter, since the catamaran "La Vagabond" sailed into Lisbon harbour on Tuesday.

Thunberg refuses to fly because of the large CO2 emissions. She also travelled with the sailing yacht from Europe to the UNITED states in august to attend the UN climate summit in New York.

Thunberg and her father Svante got a lift across the Atlantic with the australian YouTubere Riley Whitelum and Elayna Carausu.

Thunberg was in Lisbon have participated in a global klimaaktion, but she did not arrive due to bad weather at sea during the voyage from New York to Europe.

On the social media she had to disappoint the many Portuguese klimaaktivister with a storm on the Atlantic ocean had prevented her participation.

Portugal was the first country that committed to the goal of becoming CO2-neutral by 2050. In July declared a state of emergency for the climate.

Klimaaktivister still believe, however, that the Portuguese government drags its feet in the area of climate action.
