Case of stolen nazipapirer can give the national archives problems

on Wednesday, the minister outline what impact a case on dokumenttyveri in 2012 for the national archives.

A case of stolen nazidokumenter from 2012 still haunts in the national archives, as Wednesday is on the political agenda.

Acting minister of culture, Rasmus Prehn (S) is called in consultation by Peter Skaarup (DF), which, among others, wants an explanation of what the implications of the handling of the case will get to the national archives.

- When there is theft, and there are rumors that you have not received all the material in the house again, we must ask the government whether it has been the case, and if you've got the material home.

- the Responses suggest that everything is in perfect order, but it has it in the degree not been, says Peter Skaarup.

the Whole matter begins in 2012, when the national archives receives a request from a police officer and author Martin Q. Magnussen on a theft.

In 2013, two men were sentenced, respectively, 21 and 24 months of unconditional imprisonment.

They had over a number of years sought access to the criminal proceedings and the like from the post-Occupation. Thus, they had stolen a larger amount of documents and items.

In 2014 there will be questioned whether the theft of material from the occupation is more comprehensive than that. But it rejects then rigsarkivar Asbjørn Hellum.

Later, however, it has emerged that thousands of documents about the Danish nazis are still unaccounted for.

In a statement, which the national archives was delivered to the ministry of Culture in autumn, concludes the current rigsarkivar, Anne-Sofie Jensen, that "at the time, was given an incorrect factual information".

Jes Fabricius Møller, who is associate professor of history, University of Copenhagen, calling it an unfortunate case of cultural heritage and the national archives.

- the national archives has made some mistakes, because they have made public announcements, which are not in accordance with how the case looked. But it has the open-lamented sounds.

Jes Fabricius Møller in the hope that the ministry will take the opportunity to "smiles the national archives".

- I think the aftermath should be such that the ministry supports the national archives in the effort, that it does not happen again.

- Unfortunately, it seems that the case has been used to shoot a wedge between the ministry and the national archives. I think not, the progress of the case justify, he says.

Peter Skaarup will have placed responsibility for the "ugly scenario".

- Our history must be preserved for posterity, but it can't, if it disappears out of the hands of the national archives, he says.

on Tuesday afternoon, sent by the ministry of Culture a press release, where it appears that the national archives has made mistakes in the case of theft of nazidokumenter.

In the press release concludes Rasmus Prehn, on the basis of a survey that the national archives has violated the basic principles of good embedsmandsførelse by giving factually wrong information.

Also announces he actions which can improve safety, and which can help to obtain more of the stolen documents back.
