16-year-old from Remshalden: Julia W. has disappeared without a trace for a week – Kripo initiates an investigation group

Since Julia W. from Remshalden-Grunbach left her parents' house early Tuesday morning (January 24) at around 6.30 a.m., she has been missing. She did not arrive at her school in Stuttgart-Sommerrain. The police now know that the girl boarded an S-Bahn in the direction of Lenningen (Stuttgart region) at 9:17 a.m. at the train station in Kirchheim unter Teck. The Kripo has initiated an investigation team and is looking for the missing person with wanted pictures.

Julia W. is about 1.60 meters tall, has a slim build, weighs about 50 kilos, has long brown hair and wears glasses and braces. On the day of her disappearance, she was probably dressed in a brown winter jacket with fur trimmed hood, dark trousers, a scarf and black winter boots. She also carried a backpack on her back.

In the search, the officials hope above all for the help of a previously unknown man who may have made important observations. He got on the train at about the same time as the missing girl on Tuesday morning. He had previously stayed longer on the platform and made a phone call there. The man was dressed in a winter hat, possibly brown, a black hooded winter jacket, black sweatpants with four white appliqués on the outer thighs, and dark, white-soled athletic shoes. He also carried a backpack with him. He is asked to report immediately to the Kripo Waiblingen.

In addition, the investigators are also asking other passengers who took the same train as Julia W. on January 24 and who may have made corresponding observations to report to the police. The train crew may also be able to provide new insights, they say. The police are primarily trying to find out at which stop the girl got off and whether she was accompanied on the train or at the exit station.

The police have issued several press releases on the Julia W. missing person case since Tuesday. Last Thursday, the police said: "The criminal police now have vague information that the girl could have deliberately left her circle of life and could be staying near Kirchheim unter Teck or in the municipality of Lenningen." However, subsequent searches were unsuccessful. A day later, the police published a wanted poster and again asked for witnesses. Reasons for the disappearance of the 16-year-old remained unknown.

On Saturday, the police expanded the investigation, the Kripo set up the "Julia investigation group". In addition, the investigators focused on the city of Kirchheim unter Teck and the municipality of Lenningen, as there was evidence that Julia W. had stayed there. The police officers searched for the missing person with a helicopter and search dogs, among other things. They also asked residents of the Lenningen community about the whereabouts of the 16-year-old and about people who had been in contact with her since the day she disappeared. However, the measures were unsuccessful.

It was only on Sunday that the investigators followed up numerous leads. They also carried out further search measures, in which search dogs were used again. The Kripo Waiblingen asks for information on the whereabouts of Julia W. by calling 07151/950-333. Information can also be given to any other police station.
